I make horse images from porcelain clay...then I fire them in a raku kiln....that is I heat them to 1800 F. and pull them from the kiln at that temperature then put them into a can containing newspapers, etc. to catch fire, then cover the can with a wet blanket so the piece can cool in an oxygen free atmosphere.
